As we begin our New Year I thought it would be wise to choose a fragrance that invokes the energy of moving forward. Something that would prepare and encourage us to build a strong foundation for the year ahead. Helping us to ground into our intentions and truly claiming them as our own. Healing Properties Of Clove Bud: Antiseptic, stimulant, analgesic, antispasmodic, carminative.

You can use Clove Bud in a variety of ways this month. Here are a few of my favorites:

  1. Use the essential oil of Clove Bud in a room diffuser.  If you don’t own a diffuser you can always add a few drops of essential oil to a cotton swab and place them around the room. (please keep out of direct contact of pets and children).
  2. Make a pomande by sticking cloves into oranges, limes, lemons  or apples.  Place them in your kitchen or in bathrooms to invoke it’s powerful energy.
  3. Create a simmering stovetop potpourri, in pot of water add cloves, cinnamon, oranges (or other citrus of your choosing) and let it simmer on the stove.  The steam will fill your room with beautiful aromas.
  4. Next time you make up some hot apple cider think about adding cloves to the recipe.
  5. Do you enjoy chai tea?  Chai uses clove as one of it’s ingredients. Next time you drink your cup of chai take a moment to reflect upon the strength, encouragement, inspiration, and confidence that the clove is gifting to you. Drink up!

Setting Intentions For The New Year!

As the New Year approaches I believe it is important to set intentions. Ideas to work with and work on through the year. My intentions are always delivered to me in some magical way. It’s not something I “seek” It’s not a goal or a resolution that I set for myself. But instead, it is a meaningful idea that delivers itself to me. I never know how it will show up. Sometimes it’s through conversation with a friend, sometimes it’s in the quiet moments of solitude, sometimes it’s in a song, or an idea. But the moment it shows up I feel a spark deep in my belly. It just feels true in every sense. Sometimes it seems scary, sometimes exciting, but always true. It’s a knowing that burns deep inside of me.

At the start of 2014 I was given the intention of “Kindness”. Not saying that I wasn’t kind before. But this was different. This intention was kindness that could spread beyond my very safe and secure circle of friends and family. It was about extending kindness to strangers in unique and beautiful ways. At first I worked hard to be mindful of it on a daily basis. Asking myself each morning how can I extend kindness to the world today and waiting, listening for the answer. Sometimes I found myself returning grocery carts for others, sometimes leaving a tip for more then the amount of my meal, sometimes it meant holding the door open, smiling or talking to a stranger. Each moment sparked something special. It felt good to reach beyond where I was comfortable. 2 months after I began this process I noticed how nice it was to open my world up. So In March I decided to expand it even more and ask others to join in. I would be turning turning 39 this month so I put a call out on Facebook for others to participate in 31 days of conscious Kindness. Over 2,000 people were invited to take part and post there experiences of receiving and giving. It was a call to encourage others to give and receive kindness freely and authentically.

This is some of the kindness that was shared by others:Intentions, free flowing, happy, creating

  • Picked up garbage in my neighbors front yard
  • We bought coffee for the car behind us in the drive through.
  • Handed out water to the homeless.
  • Bought flowers for the neighbor
  • My husband helped edit and print a jobseeker resume. They had no car, and no money. My husband offered it to him for free.
  • Sent letters of gratitude to people who wouldn’t expect it.
  • Handed out mints and gum on the exit ramps on the freeways to anyone who would take them.
  • Bought a dozen roses and handed them out one by one to strangers.
  • Walked into a restaurant and left money to go towards the next persons bill.
  • Bought movie tickets for the couple behind us.
  • Gave my yoga student’s an extra long savasana.
  • Gave out hugs at work.
  • Bought co-workers coffee.
  • Gave flowers to the officer working the front desk at PD. Thanked them for their service.
  • Handed out water bottles to 5K and 10K runners.
  • Spent 20 minutes corralling carts at Walmart.
  • Wrote notes wishing people to have a beautiful day and placed them on their cars.

These are just a few of the many inspiring things that others shared with me through out the month of March. By the time May came, I was no longer waking up asking myself what kindness can I share. I was just sharing it. No longer thinking about it, contemplating it, just doing it, acting on the moments that inspired me. A few weeks ago I had a perfect moment to summarize this years intentions. I walked into a Target, as I was heading in a women behind me was approaching fast, I could tell she was in a hurry so I automatically reached for a cart and handed it off to her. I continued on my way to look at the scarfs another individual had just walked away and a few of the items from the shelf fell to the ground. I picked them up and placed them back on the rack. From there I walked towards one of the check out lanes and noticed the sliding door where they keep the soft drinks was wide open as I passed by I gently closed it and continued on wishing the clerk a beautiful day. She smiled and thanked me. I walked out of the store, got in my car and laughed as I realized I didn’t buy anything, but I sure did spread kindness. It felt like the Universe was speaking to me telling me “you got it girl”. My intentions for this year have been met and now just I let it flow. Through this act, through this intention I was able to witness transformation. By reaching out beyond my circle I found new ways of connecting to others and to the universe. It was sweet and it was precious and I enjoyed every moment shared.

I encourage you to find moments over the next month to plant your intentions and watch where they take you in 2015.

A few things you can do to create foundation for your intentions this year:

Light a candle. Reflect upon what you wish to give and receive from the coming year. Maybe you even write those things on the candle. Every time you light it you will be reminded to shine light on your intentions.

Lift your intentions. Place your thoughts, your love, your intentions into a handful of birdseed. Spread the birdseed in your garden. As the birds come and eat the seed imagine your prayers being lifted to the skies above.

Write your intention in a journal. Ask yourself these questions:
How can I stay motivated with this intention?
What will my daily practice or my daily question be? Keep yourself accountable.
Who can support me in this intention?
What am I most excited about from this intention?Vision Board, visionaries

Make a Vision Board. I lead Vision Board workshops! You could join me for one of the three dates. Peppermint Aroma

Peppermint makes a fantastic aroma for the holidays!

So I have to admit, I was a little surprised with the intuitive message I received for this months aroma. I really believed it would be the inspiring and soft scent of Pine. But as I sat in meditation the powerhouse of Peppermint showed up again and again. Later, as I reflected on my knowledge of peppermint and it’s energetic value I began to realize exactly how perfect this aroma is for December. Here is why…

This month we will explore the scent of Peppermint. This crisp cooling aroma is a perfect reflection of winter. When you come in contact with peppermint it even feels like a cool winters breeze. This powerful aroma invokes, understanding and appreciation. Peppermint is great to use when life gets busy as it will help individuals find focus, increase awareness and encourage mindfulness. Are you beginning to see why this is the perfect aroma for this month? Me too… BUT WAIT that’s not all! Oh, there is so much more to this spectacular scent. Peppermint has the ability to guide you out of the mind trap of having to “get it all done” and putting you into a state of allowing life to unfold exactly as it needs to be. No longer having to be in control. But rather being one who can mindfully participate in the celebrations that life holds. WOW how cool is that? During the busy holiday season could the magic of peppermint REALLY save me from falling victim to the old mantra of “get’er done” and pull me UP to just simply allowing everything to BE? Oh yes, I will take an order of that! I think I’ll be immersing myself in the energy of peppermint anyway I can get it this month! This uplifting aroma can also help create a refreshing renewed energy to an individual or space. So I say hail to the to the powerhouse of peppermint!

You can use peppermint in variety of ways this month. Here are a few of my favorites:

1. Let’s face it, driving during the holiday season can get a bit stressful. More traffic, everyones rushing, parking spaces are few and far between, stores are more crowded. I say put a few drops of peppermint oil on a cotton ball and place it in your car to keep you calm and refreshed during the holiday travel season. Everyone around you will wonder what your secret it.

2. Put a 6-8 drops in a spray bottle fill the rest up with water and spritzer it around any space that needs upliftment, understanding, or a new energy. Added bonus is you will also be cleaning the air around you!

3. Make your own sea salt bath scrub and use Peppermint essential oil as your aroma. Here is an easy recipe to make your own:

Supplies:
1 mason jar with a lid ( I like to use a 16oz jar)
1 cup of sea salt
2 tablespoons of baking soda (optional, but it’s great for softening the skin)
1/3 cup of carrier oil I like to use Safflower oil or Sunflower oil as they tend to be less sticky)
Peppermint essential oil
1 stirring stick

Directions:
combine sea salt and baking soda into jar and mix. Add 6-8 drops of peppermint essential oil (a little goes a long way. You can always add more if needed but be careful as skin irritation can occur as well as cold sweats from using to much. Trust me, I know this from experience). Use stirring stick and and mix well. Place a lid on the jar and give it a shake for 30 seconds and then let it sit for 5 minutes. Stir in carrier oil of your choice and incorporate it through out. If you need to add a little more oil to keep the blend moist then do so.

You will get plenty of showers out of this recipe and will likely last your through the month. Enjoy!

4. How about a soothing cup of peppermint tea? My favorite is Yogi brand “purely peppermint”. I always feel brand new after sipping on this.

5. Do you love hot chocolate? Next time add a peppermint tea bag to your cup of hot chocolate. It’s the best of both worlds… you can thank me later.

Nutmeg is Novembers Aroma of the Month

This month we will explore the scent of nutmeg. From a energetic stand point this warm spicy aroma invokes hopes, dreams, kindness, compassion and gratitude to the home or space that uses it. Nutmeg helps us to reflect on life’s gifts and graces with a kind heart of love and gratitude. This heart warming essence can stir the spirit with liberation allowing one to soar to their hopes and dreams.

Nutmeg encourages calm, peace, dreams, gratitude, kindness, compassion, comfort.

Healing properties of nutmeg include: Analgesic (pain relieving), antispasmodic, antioxidant, aphrodisiac, stimulant.

 

You can charge your room or space in a variety of ways using nutmeg this month. Here are a few of my favorites:

1. In a diffuser add 4-6 drops of nutmeg essential oil and fill the space with this warm spicy essence. You can also add other oils such as orange, lemon, cinnamon, or clove to enhance the invigorating aroma of your home or space.

2. In a pot simmer 3 cups of water and sprinkle in nutmeg spice. Add any extra spices you like. Let it simmer on your stove and the steam will move through the air. Changing the space with warmth and love.

3. Use the nutmeg spice in your baking this month and enjoy all of the benefits that this ingredient gives. (Note use the spice not the essential oil for internal consumption).

4. I love a good cup of coffee in the morning. As the season changes I find myself spicing my cup up with a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg. You can also try it with a sweet and spicy tea. It creates one glorious cup of gratitude!

Boost Your Immune System


With the cold and flu season approaching it’s nice to find ways of keeping your immune system healthy. This months in my Yoga classes I have been teaching students some of my favorite natural remedies.  I thought I would share some of those techniques here with you as well.

Immune boosting foods:
Ginger Root: According to Ayurvedic traditions, ginger warms the body and helps to break down the accumulation of toxins in the organs, particularly in the lungs and sinuses.

Avocados: This is an easy way to support adrenal function and keep your immune system happy. Avocados contain essential amino acids, antioxidants and some healthy fats to help balance hormone production.

Shiitake Mushrooms:  These are a great immunity booster. This super food has antiviral, anti fungal and antibacterial effects.

Warm Lemon Water:  Add this to your morning routine for a Vitamin C boost.

Immunity boosting yoga poses:
Here are a few poses that increase circulation of the lymph.  Unlike blood that moves as a result of blood pumping lymph moves by muscular contractions.  Physical exercise such as yoga is key to keeping the lymph flowing.

Cat Cow: Come into a table top position on your hands and knees. Placing palms facing forward and pressing them into the floor.  Wrists elbows and shoulders all come into alignment.  Knees are stacked under the hips. Keep the core engaged. Once you have your strong foundation drop the belly down and the head comes up (this is your inhale) then curl through the spine tuck the chin towards the chest (this is your exhale.  Continue to move in and out 10-15 times with your breath. Nice deep inhales strong exhales.  As you do this try to breathe through the back of the throat.  This helps to stimulate that lymphatic system through the throat.

Bridge pose: Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Lift your hips. Ground the outer border of your shoulders into the floor and lift the sides of your torso up, keeping your front ribs, sternum, and collarbones broad. Breathe in and out through the nostrils and feel that breath enter the back of your throat and move all the way down to the belly.

Reclined chair pose:  Reclined chair pose: lying on your floor take your hips right up to either your couch or a chair.  Hug knees towards the chest and then place both legs  on the chair or couch.  Knees will be bent and the back of your calves will rest on the couch or chair.  Stay here for 3-15 minutes. Continue to focus on your breath.

Other Immune boosting recommendations:
Dry brushing:
Dry brushing has so many positive benefits. Dry brushing stimulates the body’s circulation and lymphatic systems. Some people use dry brushing to help with bloating because massaging the lymph nodes helps the body shed excess water and toxins. One of the immediate effects of dry brushing is smoother skin, but it can also help improve digestion, kidney function, circulates the lymph system and more.

You can pick up a dry brush at most health food stores. Make sure to get a brush made with natural, not synthetic, bristles the best time to dry brush is first thing in the morning, before you shower, but you can also do it before bed.

Brushing technique:
Begin at the ankles and brush upward using light but firm strokes. You always want to brush toward the heart because that is the way the lymph flows naturally. After you finish your legs, brush your stomach (when brushing the stomach go in a clockwise circle), arms, and shoulders brushing towards the heart.

Tapping: Tapping is a great technique for keeping your immune system strong.

Using your finger tips gently tap along your collarbone from the outside in moving toward the center of your chest.  This stimulates the lymph system.  Make 3 passes each time working from the outside in.  Then move along the throat starting at the sides of the throat and moving to center.  Once you have finished take three finger tips and massage gently in a circular motion along the Thymus for 10-15 seconds. Try this as a daily practice when you wake up in the morning.

Try these tools if you begin to feel the ickies coming on:

Neti pot:

I love to neti pot it is my go to during the fall and winter months.  We breathe in and out of our nose all day long.  With that we take in some of the airborne pathogens and toxins that are flying around.  Just as we clean our hands, and shower our bodies our noses need attention too.  Using a neti pot is a wonderful way to clean out your nose and keep a good immune system, it is also very important to use the neti pot when you have been hit by a cold.  It will help you tremendously with head and nose congestion.  If you would like my full written instruction on how to use the neti pot feel free to email me and I would be happy to send that to you.

 

Drink up!

Take a shot of this immune boosting powerhouse.  I like to use this if I start to feel a cold or flu symptoms coming on.

Juice 1 lemon

Juice a thumb of 1 ginger root

Add in a dash of cayenne pepper and black pepper for the heat and helps to stimulate.  You may feel a little heat from the body for hours afterward.

Mix and drink it down.

Restoring your energy while taking a bath:

On top of your feet, in the spaces between the bones that correspond to spaces between the toes are your “gait reflexes” Energy tends to clog there.  With your fingers at the sole of each foot and your thumbs at the “gait reflex” massage and smooth the energy down each of the five gait reflexes on each foot with your thumbs.  End with a foot massage

I love this one when I feel a cold coming on.  I learned the information from the book Energy Medicine by Donna Eden and it has helped me on a number of occasions to get me feeling well again.

If you feel a cold coming on, while in the bath let your knees fall out so they are supported by the sides of the tub. Cross your arms and put your elbows into the side and middle portion of your thighs. Push your thumbs into your biceps. Sitting this way for 2-3 minutes helps the congestion drain out of the lungs, and by the time you get out of the tub, you just may have stopped the cold from attacking the immune system.

Bath Blends:

Baths are also wonderful ways to help us get back to feeling good again.

Here is a simple healing bath recipe

In a glass bowl mix the following:

  • ½ cup Epsom salt.
  • ½ cup of sea salt or Himalayan rock salt.
  • ½ cup of baking soda.
  • 4 drops of eucalyptus essential oil.
  • 8 drops of lemon or grapefruit essential oil.

Mix it all together with a plastic/ non re-usable spoon or knife.

Add a tbl spoon of carrier oil such as olive oil, avocado oil, almond oil, safflower oil, or grape seed oil.

Dump mixture into the bath as the water is running.  Once the bath is full sink in and enjoy.  Try one of the above energy medicine techniques while you soak.

How To Celebrate With Autumn Equinox

I love rituals that have meaning in my life. Often I find myself being drawn to the rituals of the season. A way to celebrate the transition of energy. It helps prepare me for the next step (wherever that might lead).

As we enter towards Autumn we can reflect upon our own life. The season encourages balance, just as daylight and night find the equal balance so do we. It is also a time of clearing as we watch the leaves begin to change and even dispose of the old we have the opportunity to do that in our life as well. Furthermore it brings about a time of cultivation, to look at what is working in life and what still needs love and care.

Here are a few ideas you might like to use as we head towards the Autumn Equinox on September 22nd.

1) Space Clearing:
Now is a great time to clear out or give away unwanted things that are no longer useful or that might have negative memories associated with them. Releasing items will create space for new positive energy to flow in.

2) Get Back To The Earth:
Fall is a great time to get outdoors. Start your fall garden, go for a hike, sit outside, go for a walk, have a picnic in the park. Anything goes here!

3) Cultivate:
The summer activities have come and gone. Fall allows us to get back into a rhythm of life. Creating the perfect opportunity to begin to put some of the focus back on you. Consider what is working in your life and what you
would like to change. Make a plan that can support
those changes. One of my favorite things to do in the fall is to write down how I want my life to look and feel on a piece of fabric. I list all my goals and visions. After I am done I attach a piece of yarn or heavy string to the fabric and hang it outside on one of my tree limbs and every time the wind blows I feel my hopes, dreams and prayers being delivered across the universe. It acts as a beautiful reminder all season long.

4) Gratitude:
Autumn is the season of gratitude. Make it a daily ritual starting with the Fall Equinox on September 22nd to write down 5 things each day that you are grateful for. You can do this at the start of your day or at the end of your day. gratitude is one of the most powerful gifts you can give to yourself and to the world.

5) Breathe it in:
Fall comes with some of the best smells in the world. I love walking into a house that is filled with all the warm vibrant scents of the season. Here is one of my favorite recipes to use to infuse my house with the smells of Autumn.
Directions:
In a pot place 4-8 cups of water
add cinnamon spice or 2 cinnamon sticks to the water
add nutmeg or clove to the water
slice one apple and add it to the pot.
Let it simmer on the stove and enjoy the aroma of your space.
* Here is an added benefit for this recipe, not only will your home smell great but cinnamon when infused into the air helps to kill airborne bacteria which means you’re creating a healthier environment too!

Bugger Off Bug Spray

BUGGER OFF BUG SPRAY
Recently I have been braving the evening heat here in Arizona with some walks. Those of you who live here know that it can still be 100 degrees at 9pm. While I am enjoying my time outdoors I have discovered that each night I return home I have new mosquito bites. Not a perk that I look forward to. Since it is still the hot and sticky season in some parts of the world I thought I would offer you a fun and easy recipe to combat those mosquitos!

YOU WILL NEED

2 oz spray bottle
Water
Lavender essential oil
Lemongrass essential oil
Peppermint essential oil

DIRECTIONS
In your spray bottle combine the following essential oils
6 drops of lemongrass essential oil
5 drops of Lavender essential oil
2 drops of peppermint essential oil
Place the cap on the bottle and let the oils combine for 5 to 10 minutes.
Once the oils have come together add water filling the bottle. Be sure not to over fill and leave room for the sprayer to be inserted.

Wait 24 hours and allow the essential oils to combine with the water. After 24 hours place a coffee filter over a glass jar and slowly pour the contents of your spray over the filter into the glass jar. Once the blend has been filtered pour the liquid back into the spray bottle and use as you need.

CAUTION: As with any essential oil always use caution and keep away from animals and children. Do NOT use if you are allergic to any of these oils. Stop use if you find skin redness or irritation.

Claim Abundance

 Claim Abundance!

Abundance is a thread that weaves it’s way through all of our lives. There is no one who is not abundant in some form of life. Perhaps it is in the form of love, community, family, friends, health, or money. We can each acknowledge the areas where our abundance is healthy and prosperous, just as we can see the areas where we might like to have a little more.

I have been acknowledged by others in my community as a “Mainfestor”. Although I believe this to be true about myself, as I have witnessed quick action in the realm of creating the life I vision. I also see areas of my life where I am “wanting” more. Areas where I have struggled to complete my “picture”. This is not to say that my hard work in creating this area of abundance is not working, it just shows that indeed it is working. You see as I create my vision for abundance, new visions come to light. Some of these visions take longer because there are more steps I need to take to get there. Those steps might involve clearing or removing barriers that have been in my path. It might involve the simple action of having hope and believing in my vision. Or it might require the action of trying/ doing something new and different. And in some areas it requires patience, the acknowledgement that I am taking the right action and steps are being made, things are progressing, but there is still more of the journey to be had. When I am in the midst of manifesting I often have to remind myself to enjoy the journey because from the journey I can learn the lessons needed to fulfill that dream to abundance. And when that moment does show up and I am STANDING/ LIVING in my vision I can smile and appreciate what it took to get here.

Are you working on manifesting some form of abundance in your life?

What’s standing in my way? Once you have the answer how can you begin to change that?
What steps need to be made to create this vision? Do I need to enroll in a class to learn more? Do I need to go out with like minded individuals? Do I need to save more money? Get a new job?
Do I believe that I can accomplish this? If the answer is YES! Then you are on your way! If your answer is no, then this is what you need to begin to work with. Find hope for your vision. Go to a weekend seminar on the subject, or You Tube the topic. Bring in inspiration! ASK the Universe, God, Angels, Higher self (whatever higher power you believe in) for help in achieving this. Once you have asked remember to listen. The answers don’t always come immediately, but watch for the signs. You will feel it in the core of your being if you are willing to ask and then listen.

Celebration of Kindness

 

        

My word this year is kindness. Not just the everyday kindness to friends and family but kindness to the world. I find it in the moments where a “thought” comes to my mind and instead of letting it go, or talking myself out of it I simply ACT on it. I never know in what moment it will show up, but when it does I have committed myself to making it happen. Sometimes I find it in talking to a stranger, sometimes it is holding a door open, or offering a place ahead of me in line. Other times I have found myself buying a cup of coffee for the person behind me or hugging a random stranger who was having a difficult moment. It has been interesting for me to see these moments show up and simply give myself the “permission” to act on the moment. Letting go of “ego” that wants to keep me from looking like the “fool”. shedding away of the “shy introvert” that has kept me safely hugging my space on the wall for all of these years. This word “kindness” this commitment I have made is transforming my life. I am witnessing myself grow with compassion, I am seeing myself take steps into the “outer world” not just the inner world of friends and family… the places where I feel “safe” to express kindness, but beyond. I am witnessing myself become non attached to what others may think and expressing myself with authentic love and kindness to the moments that shows up. It felt very vulnerable at first, even a bit scary. Now it just feels beautiful and RIGHT.

As the first two months of the year were flowing I could see what a difference this was making for my life. I was coming out of my own shell and experiencing life beyond my circle.  I wanted a way to share it with others. I wanted to get people involved if I could. So I invited a few friends on facbook to take action in a month long Conscious Kindness celebration through out the month of March (which also happens to be my Birthday month). It was the wish I made, to create and inspire more kindness in the world, the BEST gift in the world if you ask me. This invite to friends soon spread and suddenly I found over 2,000 people had been invited to participate. Truly a WORLDWIDE event for all to choose kindness. I am still overwhelmed by how many people I don’t even know that are participating. Perfect strangers spreading perfect acts of kindness all over the world. It is beautiful, it is inspiring, and it is the beauty of the human spirit. I believe kindness is the one action we should all live by. I believe kindness changes lives. I believe kindness changes the world. I am grateful that this little thought of inspiration to invite my friends to come along with me in this journey has created a life of it’s own. The world is beautiful and it shines much more brightly when we gather together in kindness.

In addition I have put out an even BIGGER call to action! Since I am turning 39 THIS SUNDAY, March 23rd (Yes, the last and final celebration of my 30’s, a little bitter sweet for me). I am asking others to join me in celebration by creating 39 acts of kindness of their own THIS Sunday! Do this from anywhere for anyone or anything and change 39 lives in that day! Smile, hold open a door, let someone in line ahead of you, give out hugs, pick up trash, walk your dog (or someone else’s) write a nice note and place them on car windows, by a dozen roses and hand out a single stem to strangers or at friends doors (Thats 12 acts there), cook a meal for someone, hand out sandwiches to the homeless, call an old friend, write thank you letters. YOU and ME 39 acts of kindness from where ever you are this Sunday (March 23rd). Will you do it with me???? Together think of how many lives we will change. Kindness changes everything, I believe this with all of my heart! Remember I am documenting the kindness in an article/ story yet to be written. How I Found Surrender…

How I Found Surrender.

Four years ago I sat at the foot of my bed, chest hunched over my knees, crying countless tears, frustrated, angry, and completely lost. I was no longer happy in my job. My frustrations were growing bigger and bigger and my hope for any change in the situation was at an end. I no longer knew what to do, my heart felt broken and in that moment, I felt my spirit was broken. I was sobbing, praying and surrendering. I remember gasping through my tears, asking for help. “Please show me how to be happy again. If I am meant to stay at this job then please show me how to be happy there, but if I am meant to move on then please show me where to go”. “ I want to be of service with a happy heart… oh please help me… Please help me, oh god please help me…” Then, suddenly my entire body relaxed and I felt calmness wash over me.

I still remember the heart wrenching pain of it all. The accumulation of time that brought me to be so overcome with tears and willingness to finally surrender and ask for help.

My surrendering and asking for change was my first step to career transformation. Soon after I began to see great opportunitiesopen up with interests that I suddenly wanted to pursue.

Weeks after my breakthrough, an opportunity to attend a Yoga Teacher Training with Carrie Hensley was presented to me. The days and times of the 200-hour pursuit would work perfectly with my work schedule. It was a big financial investment for me at the time. Shortly after I had made the decision to put my deposit down, the rest of the money quickly appeared. Everything was flowing and it was a clear indication to me that this was the right thing to do.

After finishing teacher training I began to pursue more of my interest in Aromatherapy. I had begun dabbling in it during my YTT days when I found my body was sore and tired from doing so much of the physical practice. The oils helped to soothe my muscles and at times my spirit. I had a strong desire to learn more. I was sold after my first intro class taught by April Jaeger and went on to pursue my certification at the South West Institute of Healing Arts. Yet another example of my spirit guiding me towards my interests.

six months later yet another interest was revealed to me after I had the opportunity to experience hypnotherapy. After just the first session I became witness to just how well it worked. My world was being rocked and I was completely fascinated by how much of a difference it made in my attitude, my life, and myself. After I had done my own healing I knew that I wanted to bring these tools and techniques to others. So yet again I found myself in the classroom pursuing a certification that would help me serve countless others along their path.

One year after I received my certification in Hypnotherapy and 2 years after getting my certifications in Yoga Teacher Training and Aromatherapy I had made the decision to leave my job. I had retained enough clients through my Reiki, Aromatherapy, and Hypnotherapy practice that I could take that leap and begin to trust.

People ask me all the time how did you do it? How did you get the courage to take that leap? My first step was completely surrendering the mind, heart, and spirit and asking for the guidance and the help.
